The 18th Annual EAIE Conference in Switzerland


Keimyung University sent a delegation to the 18th Annual European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference in Switzerland from September 12 to September 17. About 3000 people concerned with university international exchanges attended the conference. Those attending were mainly from Europe, but a number of people from America, Oceania, and also Asia attended. About 150 universities put up booths on the exhibition ground. Most booths were regional joint booths. Thirteen universities from Korea including Yonsei, Korea, Ewha Womans, and Kyunghee Universities attended the exhibition, with each university having its own booth.
The Chief of International Affairs, professor Kim Shin-hye, and two other representatives from Keimyung University attended the diverse activities at the conference. They took part in the Information Day that promoted comprehension of the Swiss university education system. They acquired an international experts’ knowledge at various other sessions. The Keimyung booth publicized the international programs of our university to other attendants. The Keimyung representatives developed diverse human networks by attending the reception and the various cultural events. They discussed pending questions and looked at ways to develop new programs with Keimyung’s 20 sister universities that also attended.
The conference provided an opportunity to make new agreements concerning academic exchanges. As a result, Keimyung University now has the chance to expand and increase international exchanges with England and Eastern Europe. In addition, opportunities to send Keimyung students abroad will be increased as new programs are developed with sister universities in Northern Europe. The Office of International Affairs stated that the number of exchange students will be increased due to the establishment of new sister relationships with 7 universities. The 18th Annual EAIE Conference was a good chance to help the internationalization of Keimyung University.
