The Story of the Excavation of the Hoeam Temple Site



A lecture about the excavation of the Hoeam Temple site was held at Hengso Museum at 2 p.m. on June 30. This lecture is a part of the Hengso Museum’s culture academy at Keimyung Unversity. The instructor was Song Man-young who is a professor in the Department of History at Soongsil University. He introduced the Hoeam Temple site and talked about the history and structure of the site. The Heoam Temple site is in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province and was appointed as National Historic Site No. 128. The temple was built in 1376, but, it was unfortunately destroyed by fire in 1566. He also introduced relics during the excavation of the site: a statue of Buddha made of stone and gold and a statue of a child made of white porcelain.
