Keimyung University taekwondo demonstration team donated ten million won to KMU. The team participated in the 2014 International Martial Arts Competition, which was held in Chungju last August. They donated the total prize money from winning the first prize in the competition to the school. The team’s leader, Lee Jun-hyeok, said, “The taekwondo demonstration team improved because of the university’s support and attention. We can repay the university’s help.”
The taekwondo demonstration team was established in 1998 and consists of about 30 people. They have participated in various domestic and foreign competitions, contributing to the spread of taekwondo. The team’s professor, Lee Gyu-hyung, was presented with a certificate from the President of the U.S.A. in 2008 for holding many seminars in major cities in the USA and training international taekwondo referees. In addition, the team performed at the opening ceremony of the 2011 World Taekwondo Championships in Gyeongju.
