Nabucco

The opera Nabucco was performed at Keimyung Art Center to celebrate the 115th anniversary of the establishment of Keimyung University. The opera was performed for 3 days from September 1 to September 3. Tickets were free for anyone who reserved them by telephone booking. Giuseppe Verdi, who was an Italian opera composer, wrote Nabucco based on a Bible story and the play Nabuccodonosor. The name “Nabucco” is a shortened form of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II, and the opera has the background of the Babylonian captivity in 6 BC. The opera was originally planned to run until the third, but it was extended to the fourth by popular demand. Ha Seok-bae, the dean of the College of Music and Performing Arts and the art director of Nabucco, explained the reason for the extension. “As all the seats sold out, people who didn’t get tickets were visiting Keimyung Art Center every day.”
