KMU Assists Typhoon Victims


Recently, the Philippines was damaged by Typhoon Haiyan. On November 15, Keimyung University donated 20 million won for the typhoon victims. The donation was raised through a donation program named Keimyung Caritas, through which KMU professors and staff donate 1% of their paycheck.

Keimyung University delivered 20 million won to the Community Chest of Korea, Daegu. President Synn said, “Many Philippine students are in Keimyung University, so this disaster makes us much sadder. I hope the donation will be helpful for people who are in despair in the Philippines.”

In addition, the Student Association of Keimyung University held a charity campaign from November 18 to 24. Philippine students in Keimyung University also joined the campaign. All of the contributions raised through this campaign will be used for restoration to damaged areas. Furthermore, the Keimyung Caritas Volunteer Center is planning to dispatch a volunteer group to the affected areas.
