African Enthusiasm for Korean Education

On February 26, Tanzanian locals completed the 2nd Korean education elementary course which KMU established last October. 50 locals have completed this course since July last year. The number of enrollees in short-term Korean courses which KMU offers also has increased to 230 people in 5 months in the National Zimbabwe University Korea Center. There are over 200 locals studying Korean at Zimbabwe University Korea Center.

KMU officials said, “We are operating Korean education course by dispatching teachers to Dodoma University and Zimbabwe University. Korean textbooks and instructional materials have been provided by Keimyung Caritas which is funded by a 1% donation from the KMU faculty’s salaries.”

KMU operates overseas Korean education programs in local universities in Tajikistan, Vietnam, and the United States. Their goal is to have students learning Korean go to Korean universities after enhancing their Korean language skills.
