Special Lecture by Mr. Roland Joseph Davies, Director of the British Council in Korea


There was a special lecture by Mr. Roland Joseph Davies, Director of the British Council in Korea. Mr. Davies received his master’s degree from the University of London in England. He was also the Director of the British council in Brazil and Japan.

This lecture was held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 8, in the audiovisual room in Hengso Museum. Dr. Synn Ilhi, President of Keimyung University, delivered a welcoming address. After the welcoming address, Mr. Davies gave a speech on “Intercultural Understanding”. He said that intercultural understanding is primarily language and etiquette strategies. It includes the way people understand the world and how people conceptualize things such as individuality, family, authority, work, the state, faith, history, identity and many other things.

The question-and-answer session followed the lecture. After a question-and-answer session, some of the attendees took photos with Mr. Davies.
