Kwon Sang-chul Selected for Government Scholarship

Kwon Sang-chul (Dept. of Japanese Lang. &Lit) was selected to study in Japan at the government’s expense. He will receive a round-trip plane ticket and 123,000¥ every month in scholarship, and study in Tokyo University of Foreign Studies from October for a year.

The program of studying Japanese and the culture in Japan has been run since 1981 to produce students who can contribute their talents and knowledge about Japan and its culture to developing relations between Korea and Japan.

Kwon Sang-chul said, “I’m very glad that I was selected to study in Japan at the government’s expense. I think I got this result thanks to various programs provided by the university.” He added, “I really thank my professors for helping me and teaching me everything to prepare for the contest.”

The program, recommended by the Embassy of Japan in Korea, gives opportunities to students from 18 to 30 years old to study subjects related to Japan. If you want to participate in the program, you have to get a recommendation letter from your university, take a written and oral test, and submit an elaborate project.
