At Adams Chapel on November 17, Keimyung University and Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) held an event “Making Kimchi for Poor People”.
Synn Il-hi, the president of KMU, Jung Jeong-seob, the president of KFHI, KMU students, professors, multicultural family members, and single mother family members attended this event. Korean TV actress Kim Jung-hwa and vocalist Choi Hwa-jin also attended.
KMU professors and staff donate 1% of their salary every month. This donated money was used to make kimchi for poor people. In this event, people made 3,000 heads of kimchi. People made kimchi for 5 hours.
6 kilograms of kimchi was packed into a box with 4 kilograms of rice and delivered to people including senior citizens who live alone and low-income people in Daegu.
President Synn Il-hi said, “I really thank the KMU students and professors who took part in this volunteer event to help poor people. I will make more chances to help poor people and to do volunteer work.”
