Brief on KMU

A Mock International Conference about the Korean Economy and the FTA

On November 2, KMU held a mock international conference at the New Bauer Hall in Seong-seo campus. The theme of the conference was 'the Korean economy and the FTA.' The goals of the conference were to help KMU students understand the effects of the FTA throughout the world, to know the present situation and to talk about the ways to improve it.

18 students from five departments in the College of International Studies participated in the conference as chairman, vice chairman and representatives from each country. The representatives presented stakes that the countries have in the FTA, and positive effects the FTA has on each country in each representative's own language.

Kwak Eun-byeol who participated in the conference as a representative of China said, "Even though it was a mock international conference, I had so much fun by participating in it, telling opinions of the country where I belong, and persuading other countries. It was useful." She added, "Through this opportunity, I could understand more the relationship between the FTA and other countries. I think the experiences that I had at the conference, such as presenting opinions and discussing in the country's language where I belong, will be really helpful for me to study in the field"
