New Festival Culture

Keimyung University created a new style of festival. Most university festivals are about inviting popular singers and opening a tavern for drinking. However, on September 21 and 22, KMU held a festival with sound and fresh items.

The theme of the festival was “Festival going wild, Catharsis.” There were programs like a campaign for non-smoking and non-drinking, and a special lecture about getting a job. There were some events for students such as anabada (a charity bazaar) and a campaign where people donated their blood donation cards.

The chief of KMU clubs Kang Moon-jo said, “We’ve been feeling sick of drinking a lot and inviting singers, so we decided to hold a festival with lots of event that many students can participate in.” He added, “It was not easy for us to start something new. If this kind of festival is carried forward, and many good programs are planned, I’m sure that the festival budget will be used for students not for singers, so the festivals will have their roots in good culture.”
