The World Earthquake Resistant Design Competition in Taiwan


The CSL (Complex Structure Laboratory) team, which consisted of four students from the Department of Civil Engineering, won second place in the earthquake resistant design competition held at Taiwan National University on September 25.

Professor Chang Jun-ho of the Department of Civil Engineering and leader of the CSL team won the Leadership Award.

This contest is known as world’s fourth-largest. Many countries participated, including Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Taiwan and so on. So, this contest was highly competitive.
Also, the CSL team devised a unique Bracing(board to reinforce the structure)that is able to move, they were superior praised for whole field.

Prof. Chang Jun-ho, said, “Thanks to the competition, the superiority of earthquake resistant technology had the occasion to inform the world.”
