KMU Sokdowuiban Team Win Motor Contest

The Sokdowuiban team, which consisted of nine students from the Department of Mechanical Automotive Engineering, won the KSAE Baja Competition held in Gunsan Saemangeum Motor Center from August 17 to 19. The team received a championship flag, trophy, certification of merit, and about $4,000 prize money.

This contest selected the winning team through a race with vehicles designed and manufactured by each team. The judges evaluated the vehicles on strict standards such as design, manufacture, and acceleration. This year, about 120 teams from 70 universities participated.

The contest, which was hosted by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association and the Korea Automobile Academy is one of the largest contests. In order to increase participation and encourage students to have passion in studying car technology, they gave the winning team an internship program in foreign countries which have great technology in making cars. The Sokdowuiban team also won prize money of about $5,000 in a contest hosted by Hyundai/Kia automobile company last year.
