2011 World Taekwondo Hanmadang


Keimyung University got many prizes including the first prize in female board breaking in the 2011 World Taekwondo Hanmadang. This competition was held from August 10 to 13 at Namyangju Sports Culture Center in Gyeonggi-do. 3700 people from 53 countries participated in the competition and competed in 11 events.

Four students in the Department of Taekwondo got prizes in the competition. In taekwondo aerobics, students won the second prize.

Kim Hyun-yee, who won the first prize in female board breaking, said, “Since my specialty is poomsae, I just participated in this competition without any expectation. I just wanted to break all the boards. Unexpectedly, I got a good result.” Also, she said, “Although Keimyung University is located in a region, thanks to passionate instruction from professors in the Department of Taekwondo, KMU can produce outstanding members of the national team.

Professor Lee Kyu-hyung of the Department of Taekwondo said, “Getting great results in this competition is a good chance for KMU to be introduced to people all around the world.”
