Special Lecture by Ambassador Sergio Mercuri


On April 21, a special lecture was held in Hengso Museum. Italian Ambassador Sergio Mercuri gave a lecture “Italian reunification 150 years ago and Italian language and culture in Daegu.” President Synn, university personnel, and students attended the lecture.

Sergio Mercuri said that since 1980, Italy and Daegu have been engaged in cooperation in the textile industry. Italy and Daegu have been enlarging not only economic exchange but also culture, art and many other fields. He also anticipated the 2011 IAAF World Championships will be a good opportunity to show the capability of Daegu.

He said since establishing a mutual agreement with the Italian Cultural Institute, Keimyung University has been showing capability in international exchange by making many programs such as Italian lectures, student exchanges, the Korea-Italy Forum, and various exchange activities.

Finally, he said culture and language are the best preconditions for national unity, so it is important to recognize that notion.

Holding a Snack Sharing Event for International Students From October 23 to 24, 2023, a snack sharing event was held at KMU's Dong-yeong Hall to cheer for the midterm exams of foreign students.
