Autonomous Vehicle Competition

On November 5, Hyundai-Kia Motors held the Autonomous Vehicle Competition. The Keimyung University team got the Yeol-jeong Prize worth five million won. 11 university teams were in this competition.

An autonomous vehicle is a vehicle which does not need human control. The vehicle is equipped with a control sensor, GPS, and radar. The challenge of the Autonomous Vehicle Competition was to pass a 4km course consisting of a checkpoint, school zone, crosswalk, tunnel, and construction section within 30 minutes. If the autonomous vehicle left the course, the team received a penalty. In the crosswalk section, the Keimyung University team received some penalty points because the vehicle passed over the stop line.

The Keimyung University team said, “We are happy to receive the Yeol-jeong Prize. Our efforts paid off. In the next competition, we will try to achieve a better result.” In this competition, Hanyang University received the first prize, Seoul University received the second prize, and Kookmin University received the third prize.
