First Model International Peace Conference


On October 26, the first Model International Peace Conference for peace on the Korean peninsula was held in New Bauer Hall multimedia room.

Two students from each department in the College of International Studies delivered addresses. The students spoke in their major foreign language. The keynote speakers from the departments of Japanese Studies and Chinese Studies talked about Japan’s stance and China’s stance for building peace on the Korean peninsula. The Dept. of Spanish & Latin American Studies suggested alternative ways to solve problems related to the exchange of good, and people between South and North Korea. through Latin America’s experience. The departments of American Studies and European Studies explained the problems to be solved on the Korean peninsula.

After President Synn’s opening address, former Korean ambassador to the U.S. Lee Tae-shik gave a special lecture. He said, “I am really proud of the economic development of Korea. Also I hope for a successful G20 Summit in Seoul.”
