Pan-Confucius Institute Conference


From October 4 to 6, the Pan-Confucius Institute Conference was held in Keimyung University. In the international conference, 14 universities' presidents and 80 officials of institutes from 10 nations (China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy and Rumania) attended.

The opening ceremony was held on October 4, and then President Synn Il-hi gave a speech at the general meeting. Participants had presentations and discussion about the theme “The new Confucius Institute development pattern of regional cooperation.” They also experienced Korean culture like making crafts and drinking Korean tea. Furthermore, they had many programs like exchanging their experiences about how Chinese teachers can be effectively trained, group discussion and a culture tour. The conference was held for 3 days in Chinese and English.

Park Young-jin, director of the Confucius Institute at Keimyung University, said that the conferences were always held in China only, but this is the first time in Korea. He expected to promote cultural exchange in fields like student exchange and scholarships.
