Keimyung Selected for Key Education Project

On March 18, Keimyung University was selected for the Project to Strengthen University Education by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST). Keimyung will receive funding of 5.123 billion won. In the Daegu and Gyeongbuk area, Kyungpook National University, Yeungnam University, and the Catholic University of Daegu were selected, too.

Keimyung has made a great effort to be selected for the project by implementing an employment program to raise students’ employment rate, expanding the number of Truth Scholarships for superior students from 19 to 140, increasing full-time foreign professors from 4 in 2008 to 39 in 2010, and increasing the entrance rate.

MEST evaluated the universities in 8 parts such as the employment rate of graduates, the number of students, the number of full-time teachers, tuition, and scholarships for students.

Keimyung has until April 12 to submit a plan of how to use the funding to MEST.
