Exploring the Possibility of Using Fiber Optic Sensors

Um Sung-hoon, a senior in the Department of Electronic Engineering, submitted his paper to MOTL (Microwave and Optical Technology Letters), arousing the possibility of using optical fibers for measuring a human pulse. According to his study, optical fibers are less influenced by external circumstances compared to the previous sensors. His paper is to be inserted in MOTL in April or May.

His paper was supervised by Professor Park Jae-hee, who provided research guidance and management, and Lee Jong-hoon, a senior researcher of DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology), who examined and advised his paper. Um expressed his pleasure by saying that this achievement came from encouragement and support from many people. Um is planning to enter graduate school after graduation to continue his study and research.
