Korean Speech Contest


On December 6, foreign students in Keimyung achieved magnificent results in the 4th Korean Speech Contest for Foreigners. This contest was sponsored by Kyongbuk University of Foreign Studies, and 100 foreign students from Russia, Japan, China, Mongolia, and other countries participated.

Saishu Miyuki (Korean Language Institute) from Japan won the first prize, and Paththage Chamila (Korean Language Institute) from Sri Lanka won the second prize. Xiao Ai Di (sophomore, Dept. of Korean Studies) from China won the popularity award, and Mazana Vladislava (Korean Language Institute) from the Czech Republic received a special prize. Apart from the third prize, Keimyung foreign students received all the prizes in this contest and revealed their superior Korean speaking proficiency.

The winner, Saishu Miyuki, received the highest score in expression, pronunciation, and attitude. She read her manuscript Daegu and My Hometown Hokkaido. Saishu received a certificate and a million won in prize money.
