509th Philosophy Seminar

The 509th Philosophy Seminar was held in the multimedia room on the 3rd floor of the new Bauer Hall building on April 23. Rhyu Si-min, the former Minister of Health, Welfare, and Family Affairs, gave a lecture on the topic “Without Malthus, There Are No Conservatives.” 200 students and professors participated and paid careful attention to the former minister’s lecture.

Keimyung’s philosophy seminars are open to the public and cover relatively easy themes, but deal with matters people need to think about deeply. The seminars usually take about two hours: one hour for the lecture and another hour for question and answer time.

Mr. Rhyu’s lecture was the third lecture held under the theme of “Citizenship and Social Justice.” The first lecture was on “Social Justice and Poverty Policy” on April 4, and the second, “Civil Society and the Problem of the Lower Classes,” was on April 16.
