On March 16, Norbert Baas, the ambassador of Germany in Korea, was appointed an honorary professor of Keimyung University. It is expected that the Ambassador will periodically deliver special lectures in Keimyung University over the next five years.
Ambassador Bass graduated from the Technology University Berlin, and was granted a doctorate by the European University Institute (EUI), Florence. He entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978. He was a representative at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) from 1982 to 1985 and later served in the German embassies in Iraq, Russia, and Georgia. He was appointed German Ambassador to Korea in 2006.
Keimyung University appointed Ambassador Bass because he comprehends Korean culture well and is expected to be a great link between Europe and Asia. He received a letter of appointment in the conference room of the Main Administration Building. After the appointment ceremony, a lecture on the topic of “The role of Korea and Germany in Europe-Asia Relations” was held at Hengso Museum. Many students and professors participated in this lecture.
