․ Written by Kim Su-young․ Genre: Travel essay & Self-improvement․ Published in September 2012․ 460 pagesThe Roman philosopher Epictetus said, “first say to yourself what you would be and then do what you have to do.” With this question, we can ask ourselves whether we are attaining what we want to do or not.Kim Su-young, the author of What Is Your Dream?, tells us that we have to practice what we have to do (reality) after you write down what you want to be (dream). • For pre-flight attendants

I surveyed some students who want to be flight attendants about what they wanted to ask Lee Mi-young, who is the director of Sky Academy, which teaches students to become flight attendants. Then, I interviewed her with these questions. Let’s go to meet her!1. Please introduce yourself. I’m Lee Mi-young. I graduated from the Department of International Trade and Commerce in Keimyung University. I was a teacher for three years in Sky Academy, and I’ve worked as director since December 2012. When I was a senior, I found out about flight attendants from my friend. I studied in Sky Academy and work

  • Public Hospitals

On February 26, Jinju public hospital closed. Jinju public hospital has functioned as the main public hospital in the western area of Gyeongsangnam-do since 1910. Therefore, the closure of the hospital gave the residents of the area a shock. In 2008, Jinju public hospital expanded public health services in poor western areas, but just five years later it closed. Because the hospital was loosely run and got into 30 billion won of debt, Gyeongsangnam-do decided to close it. However, criticism that public hospitals are judged only by profitability was raised.Jinju public hospital is a problem in

  • English Skill is Not Everything

Most of my students, and perhaps most students in Korea, worry about their English ability. Some have spent hundreds of hours in English classes and ludicrous amounts of money to study English, but when asked, most students claim, “My English is poor.” This is more often than not indicative only of the student’s perceived lack of accomplishment. If taken seriously, however, this proclamation of poor English after more than ten years of study (and its sad reality) is indicative of failure somewhere in the learning process, be it the curriculum, the instruction, or the students themselves. It is

  • Working Holiday!

Four months have already passed since I came back to Korea. I cannot forget my life and memories in Japan, for it was the first time I lived on my own. Through this article, I would like to give some tips to students who want to stay in foreign countries alone. In 2011, I was just a junior in Keimyung University. I woke up early in the morning, went to school, and took classes and exams. I was beginning to think this was not my dream campus life. At that time, I read an article about working holidays in the Keimyung Gazette. I said, “That’s it!” and I decided to go to Japan. The working holida
