  • LINC Foundation Implemented Winter Field Placement

    The Leaders in Industry University Cooperation (LINC) foundation implemented local field placement and foreign field placement during the winter vacation. Local field placement was conducted for four to six weeks, starting in December 2014. The participants included in the LINC Foundation were 238 students from various majors, except the Department of Pharmacy and Department of Food and Nutrition. There were 86 participating companies where students gained practical experience in business departments related to their majors.     A flight to South Korea returned to the gate of John F. Kennedy International Airport before take-off on December 5, 2014. There were about 250 passengers including an executive of Korean Air, Cho Hyun-ah. Cho rebuked Chief Steward Park Chang-jin for inappropriate nut service by a stewardess before the departure.     On January 29, Keimyung University founded the Center for Children’s Foodservice Management in West Daegu and decided to help some selected facilities provide meals.The selected facilities have no dietician who is trained to give people advice about what to eat and drink. Therefore, this center will send experts to give advice about food hygiene and diet.Furthermore, the center is planning training in the prevention of food poisoning, nutrition and diet, and safe supervision of cafeterias.   • Inspection Team from Ethiopia Visits Keimyung University

    An inspection team from the Ministry of Industry from Ethiopia, including Minister Ahmed Abtew Assaw, visited the Fashion-Textile Design R&D Center of Keimyung University on February 27. As part of the Growth and Transition Plan 2010-2015 in Ethiopia, this visit was done to view the Korean textile industry and use it to build this kind of industry in Ethiopia. They showed great interest in collaboration with the Fashion-Textile Design R&D Center in setting up textile businesses.   • Increase in Minimum Wage

    At the end of last year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced the Minimum Wage Act. According to the law, the minimum pay increased from 5,210 won to 5,580 won for one hour. Keimyung University Hosts International Fashion Show Celebrating 125th Anniversary On October 30th, the Department of Fashion Design hosted the International Fashion Show Celebrating Keimyung University’s 125th Anniversary at a special stage in front of the main building on Daemyung Campus. The event featured participation from prestigious fashion institutions, including Donghua University in China, Maranatha Christian University in Indonesia, Ueda College of Fashion in Japan, and the National Institute of Art and Design in Uzbekistan. French Exchange Students Cultural Adventure in Daegu On November 8th, 2024, 77 French exchange and study-abroad students participated in a unique cultural excursion in Daegu, sponsored by the DGIEA Korean-Italian Association. The day’s itinerary included a visit to Gunparkrugi Theme Park, an engaging persimmon-picking experience at Songgeum Green Rural Village, and a thrilling rail bike ride. The event provided the students with a meaningful opportunity to immerse themselves in Korea’s cultural and rural heritage while enjoying memorable outdoor activities.
