Q. Please tell me your business and office hours?
My office hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. I control the traffic until 9:30 a.m. When I don't have any other special business, I go and report to the fare adjustment office. I am responsible for my office, the front gate, the east gate, and Keimyung College. I try to listen to students' dissatisfaction, and I try to praise people and listen to their concerns.

Q. Could you please tell us about the characteristic of the job?
I've been working for about 8 years. I think my main work is public relations. The main thing is greeting. A hearty greeting is the most important thing in business. I advised my two sons two things. First, you should greet others well, and secondly, you should answer loudly when answering an elder. These two rules are basic things to live by in school and society. If you keep these two things in mind, you can live better than others.

Q. What is Keimyung University's main traffic problem?
Keimyung University has fewer parking places than other universities. Many people want to use parking lots, but there are not enough places. We have had toll parking for 9 years and we have the 10th day no-driving system. We hope students will use public transportation more. Professors need to park their cars quickly to spend their time effectively, but many students use the small parking lot and some park illegally.

Q. Have you had any special experiences?
I like young people because they are pure. When I say good morning to them, they reply to the greeting. Some of them come to me and say that they had a great morning thanks to me. I am just doing my job, but every time I hear that I am grateful. I am very appreciative of their concern. It makes me feel worthwhile.

Q. Do you have any difficulties?
Even if you have difficulties, you shouldn't give up doing things. Everybody has trials. You should endure the trials and overcome all hardships. You should never give up, but instead keep practicing. You can not always achieve success, but if you practice you will acquire the skills to succeed.

Q. How did you start your special actions which you do every morning?
I didn't do the actions from the first time. In the morning, traffic is heavy on the campus. I tried to listen attentively to customers. To relieve traffic congestion, I considered what would be good for this problem. And then, I started to bow to students and made a big motion to control the traffic effectively. I think that listening is a very important thing. Businessmen should serve customers as much as possible. At first, students just passed on the street. It didn't seem very good. I was researching for the solution to that problem, and then I finally thought it is greeting. I started greeting like that.

Q. What is necessary to do this work?
You should not lose your learning attitude. If you stop learning, others will get a start on you. A learning attitude is always the most important thing. Queen of talk shows Oprah Winfrey, who is 53 years old, received an honorary degree. She said, "The most valuable prize is a prize which you give to yourself."


People who can control their morning can control the world. I wake up at 4 a.m. I read newspapers or books for 30 minutes then jog about 8 km. I participated in the Keimyung Marathon. I listen to Good Morning Pops at 6 a.m. If I do something, my children follow me. Forcing children is just nagging and it won't last for a long time. Make them think about what they have to do for themselves. I told my sons they should accept my opinion before they are twenty. After that, they are responsible for themselves. After I turned forty, I told them I am going to follow their opinion. I think communication is the most important thing for a good family. My family always has breakfast together. We discuss daily life and our weekend schedule. You should have a strong work ethic. Otherwise, you cannot serve your customer with a smile or with good service. Most CEOs have meetings in the early morning. After I read that, I was shocked. If you have a strong desire, you can accomplish anything. People don't use even 20% of their brain. A weak attitude leads to failure.


Q. Could you please give advice to Keimyung students?
You should love your school and consider yourself its owner. Whether you are proud of your school or not, your school will be on your resume. You should try to achieve excellent results under unfavorable conditions. Students' most important duty is studying, but they should also enjoy their youth. You are only young once. You should join clubs, fall in love, drink alcohol, and sing in karaoke rooms. Wake up early in the morning and prepare breakfast for your parents. Wash your father's feet. You should thank your parents for working hard to support you. You should write down your goals. Among people, 20% lead the rest. If you want to be in that 20%, you should persevere in your efforts. Do not lay the blame on others or attribute your failure to bad luck.
