The March 1st Independence Movement Day

The March 1st Independence Movement Day is a national holiday of the Republic of Korea, commemorating March 1, 1919, when people on the Korean Peninsula protested against the Japanese imperial rule and independence activists read the Declaration of Independence in Manchuria, Shanghai, and the United States. Afterwards, in 1920, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea designated March 1 every year as the "Declaration of Independence" and began to commemorate it as a national holiday. The March 1st Independence Movement Day is considered one of the most important days in the history of the Republic of Korea and is still deeply recognized. It remains a historical lesson that people can stand up for independence without fear of any sacrifices. This day also has a great deal of historical connection with historical events. Representatively, there were numerous protests and protests during the March 1st Movement, including the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, the sacrifice of independence activists including Baekbeom Kim Gu.
