Saving Chat Room

Saving chat room refers to a type of KakaoTalk open chat room where people share how they spend their money. It is a method in which people who want to reduce consumption to an extreme extent gather to set their monthly spending goals and share their daily spending details. If they save money, you can encourage them. If they take a taxi or drink expensive coffee, you can encourage them. As the economy becomes difficult, saving chat rooms are trending among the younger generation. There are about 1,100 members in saving chat rooms, which are operated by hundreds, of which the age group varies from teens to 40s. There are also basic rules that must be followed in a saving chat room. You shouldn't use paid emoticons and you will be forced out if you show off photos that encourage consumption.

Saving chat rooms have the advantage of people being able to express honest thoughts on their economic ideas and learn other people's know-how in saving, relying on the anonymity of open chat. On the other hand, it reflects the heartbreaking reality of young people who have to reduce even minor consumption because it is difficult to maintain their daily economic life.

There is also criticism that the trend of saving chat rooms make the polarization of consumption clear.

Various Perspectives on Saving Chat Room

In the saving chat room, people can share their savings know-how with anonymous people and receive warm comfort and funny advice. Together, it is very popular because people can talk openly about their economic situation because it is conducted anonymously while saving money. However, if people are too immersed in the saving chat room, the frequency of checking KakaoTalk increases, and people can neglect their current life. There may be side effects of increased data consumption as a lot of conversations take place. Even if people do it simply for fun, the consumption deterrent effect can be minimal. In addition, the use of saving chat rooms can be seen as a self-help reflection of the position of the younger generation, who have to reduce even minor consumption due to concerns about the future. In the reality that the number of people in their 20s and 30s who enjoy hotel vacations, luxury consumption, and overseas travel is also increasing, the polarization of consumption between them becomes more pronounced. The saving chat rooms reflects the youth's desire to overcome difficult economic situations positively through play, not pain, but it cannot be regarded as a good because it also shows a pursuit of extreme savings.

Negative effects of Saving chat room

The Saving chat room in KakaoTalk allows users to anonymously participate in sharing their daily expenses. The Saving chat room beggar chat room aims to help you track your spending habits and increase savings. However, the messages people receive can be compliments or judgments depending on the amount spent. While the intention is to promote savings, which is understandable, I believe it carries more negative effects. People can become overly reliant on this, which potentially leads to social media addiction and heightened stress over even the smallest necessary expenditures. I believe this type of communication can have a detrimental effect. Thus, although it may be beneficial to restrict oneself from overspending, it seems to lead individuals towards a more problematic path.

Doubt about Saving Chat Room's effectiveness

Saving chat room is not an effective method to reduce consumption. Because of the way Kakao-Talk chat rooms work, your record of daily spending can be easily lost. At the end of the month, all you can get is records scattered across the chat room that make it hard to keep track of how you spend money. If you really want to change a consumption life, you should be able to pinpoint what the problem is. Getting criticism of your every spending from others won't help you with it. You have to figure out your problem and make a consumption plan or solution first. If you do that, then maybe a saving chat room will help you stick to the plan.

Saving things turn to playing culture

The increase of interest and inflation rates controls young people’s consumption patterns. It turns to playing form and they feel a sense of kinship and comfort each other. They motivated each other and cut down on their own spending too. It This playing culture can head off conspicuous consumption, but it shouldn’t feel guilty for rational consumption behavior. As such, the government considers young people’s financial circumstances and works on countermeasures.
