The Age of Artificial Intelligence, AI Chatbot

Ethics and Rules of Artificial Intelligence

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) last year was surprising. AI specializing in conversation gives very high-quality answers to difficult questions, and sensuous works of art have been created that are hard to believe AI drew. People began to say that the era of full-fledged AI has begun.
Chat GPT received the most attention. It is an interactive AI announced in November by Open AI, an American AI research company. It learns and combines vast amounts of information on the Internet by itself and answers users' questions in a conversational format. It is possible to ask about philosophy or scientific theory beyond simple conversation, or to ask for literary works such as poetry and novels.

I actually asked Chat GPT the very abstract and philosophical question, "What is love?"
GPT: "Love is a complex and multifaceted emotion that can mean different things to different people. Generally, love is described as a strong affection and attachment towards someone, characterized by feelings of warmth, tenderness, and caring. Love can be romantic or platonic, and can exist between family members, friends, and romantic partners.  Love is often considered a positive and life-enhancing emotion that can bring happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose to one's life. It can also be challenging, as love involves vulnerability and the risk of heartbreak. However, for many people, the rewards of love make it a worth-while and meaningful part of their lives.
There are many different theories about what causes love and what makes it last. Some scientists believe that love is a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors, while others see it as a spiritual or transcendent experience. Despite the many mysteries surrounding love, it remains one of the most universal and powerful emotions and is an important aspect of the human experience."

After receiving these answers, I asked it for a discussion on love. Here is what it said:
GPT: Sure, let'’s discuss love! As mentioned earlier, love is a complex and multifaceted emotion that can be described as a strong affection and attachment towards someone. Love can take many forms and can exist between a wide range of people, including romantic partners, family members, and friends. Some common elements of love include feelings of warmth, tenderness, and caring towards someone, as well as a desire to be close to them and to make them happy. Love can also involve a sense of sacrifice, where one is willing to put the needs and well-being of the loved one ahead of their own.

There are many different theories about what causes love, including biological, psychological, and social factors. Some scientists believe that love is driven by chemical reactions in the brain, such as the release of hormones like oxytocin, while others see it as a result of social and cultural influences.
Regardless of the cause, love is considered by many to be one of the most important and meaningful aspects of the human experience. It can bring happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose, and can provide comfort and support during difficult times.”

Chat GPT answers such a wide range of philosophical questions, and naturally answers with professional knowledge and information without being blocked. Currently, ChatGPT is available for free as a kind of trial. This will help the creators understand the strengths and weaknesses of ChatGPT by receiving feedback from a wide variety of users. You can get an answer by simply accessing the site and asking questions in a chat window without going through a complicated process. It will even answer questions in Korean.

Since its release, Chat GPT’s popularity has been explosive. Within five days of its launch, the number of users surpassed one million. It can answer anything because its learning ability is enormous. It is natural to summarize and summarize the information you want, and it can write novels, poems, or answer complex coding questions. Since the machine learns on its own, there is a prediction that "all that is left to grow in the future." Some say that if chatbot technology develops further, it will oversee Google search, medical and financial services, and customer response instead.

Google, one of the most advanced IT companies, is also nervous. I'm worried that interactive AI may replace Google search. The day before yesterday (23rd), Microsoft announced that it has decided to invest in Open AI, the Chat GPT developer, and establish a partnership. The investment is more than 12 trillion won.
However, if last year was a year when AI's creative ability was widely promoted, this year will be a year of controversy. There have been people who indiscriminately use the creations created by AI. There have also been people who take issue with the process of AI creating creations. As AI learns and answers various requests, it can strengthen social prejudice or disgust. Some people say that it is too early to open the service to everyone without preparation for such ethical issues. In addition, there are concerns that it will be difficult to evaluate various academic fields if chatbots solve not only writing tasks but also development and math problems. It's going to be hard to tell the difference between ghostwriting and plagiarism.

There are three main controversies that are expected to intensify this year. There is growing concern that AI technology will harm 'fair competition'. AI creates high-quality creations without much effort. There's another incident that surprised people. In September last year, AI's creations won an art competition. The winning work is an AI program called 'Midjourney'. If you type the picture you want in simple text, the AI can quickly create the right image in seconds. You can ask them to create a portrait similar to the style of a famous artist, or you can ask them to paint a world that would appear in a science fiction movie.
The winning work of the painting competition I explained earlier was also embroiled in controversy. Some criticize the difference between robots winning gold medals in the Olympics. In the United States, it is a problem for college students to use AI for their studies. Students started to rely on Chat GPT to write assignments. In some cases, the information or opinions organized by AI are submitted as they are.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, American universities are phasing out the report assignment. Some public middle and high schools in New York City have decided to block access to Chat GPT through the school's Wi-Fi network.

In the near future, AI may even write papers instead of scholars. Chat GPT can already write the abstract of a thesis with such sophistication that it is difficult to distinguish it from human writing. Recently, Nature, a scientific journal, introduced the results of an experiment by a research team from an American university.
When we conducted an experiment to distinguish 50 abstracts of medical papers written using Chat GPT from those written by humans, researchers who participated in the experiment determined that 32% of AI-generated articles were written by humans. There's also an academic society that announced that it would ban writing papers using Chat GPT.

There is also a growing controversy that AI infringes copyright in the process of creating creations. AI is trained on countless existing creations and then produces results by editing and combining them. There are people who argue that this process is tantamount to 'weaving' and that the work made in this way constitutes plagiarism. Recently, there have been a series of copyright lawsuits related to AI's creations. Earlier this month, painters in the United States filed a class action suit against a company that developed image-generating AI. They claim that AI stole and wrote their work without paying a fair price in the process of learning from their images. AI developers say there is no problem. They didn't copy or weave the existing works as they were, but they were only used for learning. They argue that the same goes for humans to learn by imitating or referring to other people's works. The controversy surrounding AI-created creations is not limited to areas such as "fair competition" or "copyright." Opinions are also divided over whether this work should be recognized as "art." There are people who see that "the creations created by AI programs cannot be recognized as art without the process of humans thinking and imagining fiercely."

Some argue that as technology develops, the definition of art will inevitably change. For example, when photography was first invented, artists didn't recognize photography as an art. They saw it as a technology that expresses the world as it is without having to put much effort into it. But today, photography has become a field of art, and many photographers are creating art photographs. So, we have to recognize AI programs as one of the tools for creating artwork.
With the development of AI, people can experience a convenient life, but ethical and plagiarism problems continue to arise. What will the future of mankind look like with AI?
