On January 23, 2017, the Korea Tour Card for foreign tourists was released. It is a transportation and tourism card only for foreigners that has become popular with more than 10,000 cards sold in the two months after its release.
Through this card, foreign tourists can receive many discounts and benefits for transportation, tourism, shopping, and concerts that 25 companies offer in Korea. It’s convenient for foreign tourists to use the card for public transportation like subways, buses, and taxis because they don’t need cash. Places that offer shopping benefits are Lotte World Mall, Shinsegae Department Store, and Hyundai Department Store. Foreigners can receive tourism benefits at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Petite France, Arirang Studio, Lotte World, and SM Town. Also, this card is rechargeable like a public transportation card and works anywhere in Korea. To see more detailed information about places to use it and benefits available, visit the Visit Korea Committee website at: (http://vkc.or.kr/en/main-project/korea-tour-card/
Foreigners can purchase the Korea Tour Card for 4,000 won at Korean airports, Airport Railroad stations, and convenience stores like 7-Eleven or CU. This card is available from 2016 to 2018 because it is the “Visit Korea Year." I hope you use this card and receive many benefits in Korea by using it.
