This is one way that hotel employees work for hotel guests; they take care of all of the details to deliver the best experience. Role
A hotel manager manages all of hotel employees. Hotel employees are divided into back office staff and front office staff. Back office employees have job similar to other kinds of companies. The front office workers provide all services that guests need in the hotel; those jobs are doormen, bellmen, front desk clerks, servers, bartenders and housekeepers. Hotel managers oversee all of these departments so that they operate as smoothly as possible. Also, they coordinate various activities such as hotel reservations, sales, hospitality, dining room, kitchen, and promotional activities. They establish strategies for improving sales such as rooms, banquet halls. They also provide customized services for the use of customer's requirements for meetings, banquets, reception and other purposes.
Qualifications
Hotel managers have to have a wide variety of skills because they coordinate all hotel employees. They should be honest and hard working. They should be able to communicate well and anticipate guests’ needs. Hotel managers should be good at speaking a foreign language. For example, a TOEIC speaking score is more important than a TOEIC score in English. There is a specific qualification to be a hotel manager. Since hotel management skill is dependent upon your employer, you should work as lodging manager, assistant manager, or team of manager in a hotel for more than three years. Furthermore, a major in or related to hotel management or tourism will provide an advantage.
Prospects
With the increasing number of tourists, the hotel industry is growing along with the tourism industry. If you want to become a hotel manager, it’s a good idea to start as a front office worker to gain customer service experience. As hotels create a lot of jobs, the future looks bright for hotel managers.
