The Korean National Commission for UNESCO(KNCU)

UNESCO is an organization in the United Nations which promotes international cooperation in education, science, and culture. Since 1945, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO has supported various activities in Korea and abroad. I will introduce being a KNCU worker.

Qualifications
Anyone who has graduated from university can apply, but you need an English score. KNCU accepts scores from English tests such as TEPS, TOEIC, TOEFL, and FLEX. Applicants must get over 900 on TOEIC, 770 on TEPS, 105 on TOEFL IBT, or 792 on FLEX. TEPS speaking, TOEIC speaking, OPIC, and internships give extra points.

Employment Process
The employment process consists of an online job application, a writing test, a first interview, and a second interview including an English test.
The online job application has a personal statement written in Korean and an essay written in English. If you pass the online job application, you have a writing test in KNCU. The writing test is Korean writing and English writing: 40 minutes writing a composition in Korean and 30 minutes translating English and Korean sentences.
The first interview is a group interview with 10 applicants. They get a debate topic. During the discussion, interviewers score their communication, cooperation, and their ideas. The second interview is a one-to-one interview. They ask questions in English and Korean.

If you are successful, your position is determined through your major field, job aptitude, and one month of training. KNCU is divided into 4 departments: Planning and Management, Policy and Programs, UNESCO Bridge Program, and Development and PR.

If you are interested in activities such as international cooperation, information exchange, and sustainable development, I strongly recommend a job at the Korean National Commission for UNESCO.
