Job Counselor

These days, many people make various efforts to get a job. However, most people know only a few jobs. According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, there are 10,971 jobs in our society. Therefore, job seekers are frequently confused about what they want to be. A job counselor helps job seekers to find a proper job.

Role
A job counselor gives proper information to job seekers through tests of a job seeker’s interests and aptitudes and manages or develops job guidance programs. A job counselor also does other consultations such as legal difficulties in employment, adaption to a job, after job retirement, and labor laws.

Qualifications
If you want to be a job counselor, you need the national official first or second class job certificate. To acquire a first class certificate, you need a second class job counseling certificate and work experience at more than two years. The second class job counseling certificate test is divided into a written examination and a practical examination, and the subjects of the written examination are employment counseling, occupational psychology, job information, the labor market, and labor relations. The practical examination is work experience. The first class examination is also divided into a written examination and a practical examination, and the subjects of the written examination are the same as the second class examination.

Prospects
A job counselor can work for the Ministry of Labor, regional labor offices, and employment agencies. Moreover they can work in free or fee-charging employment agencies and 24 foreign fee-charging employment agencies. Because average life expectancy will increase, many retired workers and job seekers will appear. Therefore, the demand for job counselors will increase, and the prospects for job counselors are bright.
