My First Trip

How is your campus life? If you feel tired, I recommend you take a trip. I came back to university last fall after I finished military service. I felt tired from my monotonous daily life. I wanted something to refresh me. Last semester, I thought about what I wanted. One of my friends suggested going to Europe. Because I have always been interested in Europe, I decided to go on a trip to Europe for 3 weeks in summer vacation.
It was easy for me to select the countries which we would visit because I had been reading travel books about tourist attractions. I selected 5 countries: Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, and France. After selecting the countries, I thought about the transportation that I would use in Europe. After much consideration, I chose a rental car. There were some merits of a rental car. First, it was cheaper than the Eurail pass because there were 4 people in my party. A Eurail pass is a train ticket in Europe. If you have a Eurail pass, you can take a train an unlimited number of times in Europe. Second, it was very comfortable because we could carry our luggage in the trunk. Last, I didn’t want to be bound by train schedules. Preparing for the journey was really exciting for me. Even during the final exam period, I tried to book accommodation and to read some guide books.

I believed the trip would proceed smoothly, but the navigation system in the car was not working properly from the beginning. Fortunately, one of us had a European map application. We got to a nearby area with only a map and traffic signs. Then, we pulled over and asked a resident for directions. The people who we asked for directions searched for our destination using their mobile phone, explained how to get to our destination easily, and brought us where we wanted to go. I was very grateful for the people’s kindness.
Exotically beautiful places attracted me. The first was Monte Solaro Observatory on Capri Island in Italy. In Anacapri, you can take a lift bound for Monte Solaro, which is the mountain on Capri Island. The second was First, which is a mountain in Switzerland. On the top of First, there is a beautiful lake called Bachalpsee. Bachalpsee has clear water. I put my feet in the water. It was so cold. When you climb down, there are lots of activities such as trekking, riding a bike, and the First Flyer. It is a chairlift. I recommend that you ride a bike. The natural scenery of Switzerland was great. I think the government of Switzerland makes an effort to protect the nature. For example, in Switzerland, gasoline is cheaper than diesel because diesel makes more pollution than gasoline. The last one was the night view of Paris. I saw the Eiffel Tower at night from in front of the Chaillot Palace. You can take the best picture just there.
In conclusion, it was really exciting to find what I wanted to see with only a map. Sometimes we were in trouble, but the difficulties in traveling made a good memory at the end of the journey. In short, I have confidence that I can do anything well. This summer trip will stay with me as a great memory forever. Nothing is better than this. Go on a trip if you have a slump in your work or want to have wonderful memories.
