Which movie inspired you the most?

When I was 16 years old, I encountered a movie entitled The Song of the Sun. I chose it because its cover was beautiful. Kaoru (Yui) is 16-year-old girl who lives in a quiet seaside town. She can’t go in the sunshine because she has a rare skin disease, so the only thing she can do is sing and play the guitar when the sun goes down. Her secret pleasure is looking at a boy named Kogi through the window. They fall in love, and it grows more and more each day. One day she realizes she will die soon. The most impressive scene is when Kaoru sings a song entitled “Goodbye Days” that she made herself. Since watching that movie, I have played guitar. The reason that I chose this movie is not only because I now play guitar, but also because I’m happy to have a healthy body.

We all are anxious about our unknown future. If we knew our future, would we follow that and be satisfied? I want to tell you about the movie Be with You. The heroine, Mio, learned that she will marry Takumi and give birth to Yuuji, but die at age 28. Of course, she agonized over choosing this future, but she decided to live the life that was shown to her as her destiny. In this movie, I saw the firm will and the pure love of a tender woman. This movie can just be seen as a lovely romance between two pure youths, but I also found a firm and sincere mental attitude about love. Maybe each person has a predetermined destiny, but destinies might be set by the choices we make pursuing happiness.

“Lately, I have been having nightmares, where I'm cut into so many pieces that there aren't enough of me to be put back together.” Actually, this quote is taken from the movie My Sister’s Keeper, and, indeed, it is the situation I’d been through for a long period of time. For a reason I still ignore, I was so weak, depressed, lost and confused. My life had no meaning at all. Then one day I watched this movie with this girl that had to live a life of suffering, waiting for her death, not because she was bored of her life like me, but for the simple reason that she had no choice. She was born sick. I then knew how ungrateful I was. I started being more optimistic, looking for a better “me”. Now, I’m much happier. And as the actress says in the movie: “Extraordinary things are always hiding in places people never think to look.

The Most Beautiful Farewell in the World, directed by Min Kyudong in 2011, is the best movie I have ever seen. This director describes the treasured parts of daily life, such as precious family moments, in his films. This movie is similar to his former movie All for Love (2005), which made him a famous director of romance and melodrama films. Through the mother character presented in this movie, I recognized my mother's infinite love. Since I watched this movie, I have said many times to my mother that I love her. As adolescent boys often disobey their parents, I sometimes showed a gesture of defiance to mine and occasionally harbored animus towards their advice. This movie reminded me of the importance of parents' love and the treasured parts of daily life. I highly recommend you see this movie.
