★ What is the main task of the Korean Language and Cultural Center (KLCC)?

The Korean Language and Cultural Center (KLCC) teaches Korean language and culture by employing highly qualified teachers who have the Korean Language Teacher’s certification. The Korean Language and Culture Program is a comprehensive Korean education program aimed at international students and overseas Koreans. Through this program, foreign students can develop their Korean language skills and understand Korean culture, and it gives students an excellent opportunity to become familiar with contemporary culture.

1. Korean Language Course
Through a level test and interview, students are placed in classes such as Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. The courses are divided into reading, listening, speaking, and writing. A class has 10 students on average, and could have 15 students maximum. Courses consist of 4 classes a day, 5 days a week (Mon-Fri), for 10 weeks (200 hours).

- Schedule (10 weeks, 200 hours)
In 2011, the spring program was from March 2 to May 12, summer was from May 19 to July 28, fall is from September 1 to Nov. 14, and winter is from Nov. 21 to Jan. 31 (’12).

- Cultural Program
Every month there are a variety of social programs and field trips with classmates related to experiencing Korean culture. In addition, there are many events such as a singing contest, a Korean quiz, and a foreign student festival.

- Tuition
The application fee is 100,000 won, and it cannot be refunded. Tuition is 1,000,000 won/quarter (Textbook fee is not included).

2. Summer Camp
This program is designed for foreign students and overseas Koreans who want to learn Korean language and culture during summer vacation. Courses are composed of three classes taught in Korean every day with special activities such as making masks or trying on Korean clothes, field trips, and special lectures on Korean culture.

- Daily Schedule (for 3 weeks)
9:00 to 12:00 is Korean language class, 12:00 to 14:00 is lunch time, and 14:00 to 17:00 is special lectures and programs on Korean culture from Monday to Friday. Also, there are field trips every Saturday.
The learning Korean culture program includes Korean costume and courtesy, mask drama, taekwondo, and Korean ceramics. In addition, field trips include Daegu city tour and visiting historic places (Gyeongju and Andong).

- Period
The application deadline is late June every year. The camp starts in the second week of August and continues for three weeks.

- The fee is 1,500,000 won (Dormitory fees for a shared double room and the application fee are included).
