Visiting Overseas Cultures

When I got a phone call from my friend saying I passed the exam for traveling abroad, my heartbeat increased and I felt as if I already were in a foreign country, walking down the Champs Elysees side by side with foreigners. The reason why I was so pleased was that I had had no experience traveling abroad before, and I had never been on a plane in my life! Because of that, I couldn’t sleep well for a week, and my room was in a mess while I was packing my bags with joy.

Through this program, I went to England, Italy, Germany, and France. The first place I arrived at was London. Almost all the museums or art galleries in London were free to enter. That made me excited. I had taken a lesson in my major classes related to the art and paintings of Europe before I went to Europe. When I took the lesson, I didn’t expect the lesson would be helpful for understanding crafts and paintings like this. If I had not taken the course, I would just have passed those by without understanding the historical truths related to the works and the intentions of the painters. Due to the familiar things, I could focus on those with interest and had a good time.

After traveling through Europe, I think many tourist attractions in Europe are in good condition, having a specialized program and agency to lure more travelers from all around the world. I know Korea also has many historical and attractive sights in comparison with those of other countries. However, it is sad that local governments in Korea manage these poorly and do not make the best use of them. I want them to try to make an effort to improve facilities and promote the sights to foreigners.

SAP (Study Abroad Program) is a scholarship system supporting a portion of the cost of study abroad related to KMU students’ majors. The purpose of this program is to cultivate talented students by acquiring a cosmopolitan outlook. The topic of visiting includes all fields of politics, environment, society, education, and art to get a variety of experiences.
Most of all, the advantages of this program are that students can design their schedules and select regions by themselves, not keep to the schedules which the school had planned earlier.

Finally, whenever I talk about our university with my friends, one of the biggest complaints they have is that the scholarship fund in Keimyung University is not enough compared with that of other universities and there are less opportunities for students to enjoy university life. However, there are many programs waiting for you, such as the internship program which is for students to get practical experiences in a job, the exchange students program connected with local or overseas universities, and a forum aimed at allowing leaders of industry to share their experiences. I would like to tell of my appreciation to the Scholarship and Student Relations Team for giving me this opportunity and I highly suggest you try this.
