Letters from Readers

The Gazette which satisfy my desires!

Glad to meet you, Gazette! I'm Huh Da-young, a freshman majoring in International Commerce at Keimyung university.

Frankly, I held a prejudice towards the Gazette in that I expected it to be very difficult. So at the beginning of my first semester, when I saw the newsstand which displayed the English newspaper, The Keimyung Gazette, I passed by.

However, one day, while waiting for my friend, I was very bored. I picked up the Gazette and looked over it. I did not read any articles, but I looked at the pictures. I searched for the most colorful and sensible pictures. The movie poster was my favorite. The article which included the movie poster was 'Movie Review'. Unfortunately, I really wanted to read the article, because I am a movieholic!

Eventually, I made up my mind to read the article. But, against my expectation, it was easy to read and fun. After that time, I have read every movie review corner, and I found out about many new movies. These articles satisfied my desire for watching interesting movies.

Thanks to the Gazette, I watched a great movie, called the 'Bucket List'. As soon as I read the article, I watched the movie that night. it moved me deeply. The movie gave the message 'Act right now!'. I like making plans. However, I only made plans, but didn't fulfil them. After watching this movie, I decided to change my mind.

the Gazette satisfied not only my desire, but also my mind. Thank you very much. I hope that there will be many more articles about interesting movies.

Thank you, Gazette !

Hello, I’m Jung-hyun Park, a freshman. I am studying in KAC (Keimyung Adams College) which teaches all classes in English. Because of this, I was depressed at first. I had to study English harder than other friends who speak English well and I wanted to get a higher score on the TOEIC test during the first semester.

These days, most companies want to hire employees who have high TOEIC or TOEFL scores, and so students tend to go to private institutes or make study groups. However, they must also study special TOEIC books to get a higher score. In my case, I began to get interested in reading English newspapers to do a wide range of studying in English. When I read the Korea Herald or Times at first, I was poor at reading English newspapers because there were lots of words I did not know, the sentences were long, I had a lack of background knowledge, and so on. One day I had a chance to read the English newspaper, the Gazette, which my friend recommended.

It was helpful to me because it had a lot of useful information. And, it was easy to read for me because the articles were written by students of my age. I had chances to see many writing forms like advertisements, information, columns, essays, etc. It was helpful to learn how to summarize these writings quickly. The most attractive section was the movie review because I like movies, and I had heard about the movie named ‘The Bucket List’ before. So, it was very familiar to me and I decided to see the movie.

There are a lot of foreigners from other countries in our building, ’Dong-young’. I need to know about news in KMU and also to be able to speak in English about that. Therefore, I will make the best use of this newspaper, the Gazette. I feel really great about writing this letter. I wish there will be more sections to participate in such as letters from readers or quizzes.
