Everyone will meet their demise some day, but everyone has a different viewpoint as to how they will deal with it. People can die in a number of ways. Some die due to an illness. Some die in a car accident. Some grow old and die naturally. If people are faced with death suddenly, they do not know what to do and just want to live more. But if you have already done what you wanted to do before you ‘kick the bucket’, death is not very painful and the death might be meaningful. Do you know what the Bucket List is? This is a list of things you really want to do before you die.

In the movie, the Bucket List, there are two old men who have terminal diseases. One is Edward, who is interested in his business empire and luxury coffee. The other is Carter, who gives up his dream at a young age and had worked as an auto mechanic for 45 years to take care of his family. They were put in the same hospital room. One day Carter wrote a bucket list that his professor of philosophy had suggested when he was a university student. When Edward saw his bucket list, he decided to put the bucket list into action together because they did not have much time. They visited Egypt, got a tattoo in a shabby tattoo parlor and raced sports cars, and so on.

Meanwhile, they came in conflict with each other because of Carter’s wife. She wanted Carter to come back home and end his life living with his family. But Carter wanted to live his own life because he felt that he spent all his life living for his family and not for himself. So, he refused her suggestions several times. But, he realized from Edward that the most important and necessary thing in his life is family, so eventually he came back home. When he came back, he noticed his old wife who he loves very much and realized he had not expressed his affection to her enough. Consequently, he determined to express his deep love to her for the remainder of his life time.

On the other hand, Edward, who had only focused on his business and had not taken care of his daughter, went to see her. It was hard for Edward to visit his daughter because he felt sorry for what he had done. At that time, Carter gives Edward a big present that makes Edward and her daughter reconcile. Edward and Carter lived a diametrical life. Carter abandoned his dreams for his family while Edward only focused on being successful. I don’t know which life is happier but if you have someone who mourns your death, I think it would be a much happier life.

At the end, Carter passed away before than Edward, and so Edward put the last thing on the bucket list into action alone. Now you face the new semester. How about spending some time making your bucket list today?
