Letters from Readers

After reading the Gazette

I think it was a very good chance to get to know the Gazette newspaper, because it contains various new information relating to campus life and the contents are very interesting. However, as a reader I want to make some comments regarding the Gazette, hoping the Gazette can improve its quality more and attract more readers.

Foremost, the Gazette has various corners. For example, the Opinion corner handles current issues which are controversial, such as the matter of publicizing criminals’ faces, and explaining the pros and cons of it. I like that corner very much. Next, the Interview corner with foreign students and professors, also give us a chance to feel closer to them.

Like these, the Gazette’s activities look so great and have interesting contents but I have one thing to say about which the Gazette needs to think about in relation to its readers. To bring the Gazette and its readers closer together, the Gazette should think of every possible method and events to come to the readers more closely.

Finally, I hope the Gazette can always flourish and become more popular among students and students’ concerns and participation can increase day-by-day.

Thanks for the Gazette

I first began to read the Gazette to know information about Keimyung University. In my high school days, the school paper was Korean. So English written in newspaper was very unfamiliar to me. What is worse, I was poor at English and didn’t like English. So the Gazette was hard to welcome for me. Nevertheless, this unwelcomeness, I went away while solving puzzles in the Gazette. However I could solve puzzle answers by just finding out the words themselves. To solve the Gazette puzzles, I had to read and think about the Gazette articles carefully. While doing the puzzles, I came to become a Gazette reader.

Here, I want to comment on what I felt while reading the Gazette. Materials written in English are not always hard to understand as many people think. The Gazette uses easy words and it is so easy to understand. Second, the Gazette includes much information. On university events, stories of many Keimyung and city festivals, and they are very interesting and very useful. However, there are also something that I want to wish from the Gazette. As a school newspaper, l want the Gazette to put much information on university life and the voice of KMU people. As much as t could escape from the fear of English through the Gazette, I wish the Gazette can be the most familiar media in the Gazette. Finally, I’m really glad to write this letter for the Gazette and from now on, I hope the Gazette can grow to become the most supreme newspaper in Keimyung.
