An invitational lecture about employment was held in Yeungam Hall on November 20. This was part of the Department of German Language and Literature Festival. Kim Ji-young, who is in charge of the personnel division at Wacker Chemie AG Korea, a German company, was invited. The topic of this lecture was what kind of people foreign companies want.
In foreign companies, they recruit mostly when a vacancy occurs, and regular recruiting is unusual. People are recruited through headhunting, Internet sites, or recommendations. Therefore, people who want to enter foreign companies should always check the situation in companies they are interested in and make inquiries.
In the case of Wacker Chemie AG Korea, applicants have to demonstrate English proficiently. An English resume is the most important and basic document. If you can speak German, you will gain an advantage. When you interview, they place emphasis on practical ability rather than personal history, and team work is also an important factor.
Kim Ji-young encouraged students preparing for jobs by saying, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Have an optimistic view.”
