The spring kendo championship for universities was held from May 9 to 11 at Chungbuk Boeun National Sport Center.

On May 11, for the first time, Keimyung University kendo team won the championship. Going into the final, they had won each game by only one point. In round 1, they beat Incheon University 3 to 2. In round 2, they beat Sungkyunkwan University 4 to 3. In round 3, they beat Youngsan University 4 to 3. In the semifinal, they beat Daegu University 3 to 2. In the championship final, they beat Kookmin University.

Keimyung University kendo team consisted of eight athletes: Lee Myeong-ook, Shin Jung-ho, Kang Deok-hwan, Park Cheol-hyeong, Hong Sung-yoon, Son Eun-gi, and Namgoong Hyeok. They are very promising athletes.
