Lecture by the Minister of Unification

On November 7, Yu Woo-ik, the Minister of Unification, gave a special lecture in the audio-visual room of Bauer Hall. The topic of his lecture was the Korean peninsula’s circumstances and unification policies. Synn Il-hi, the president of KMU, professors, and students attended the lecture.

Yu Woo-ik explained that he has given 50 lectures because he felt the necessity to heighten the new generation’s awareness of unification. He stressed the appropriateness of unification, saying that “Reunification is necessary to overcome the division cost and develop our potential as a unified nation.” He emphasized that we should prepare a friendly atmosphere, education, and other systems as well as action for reunification. Lastly, he said, “Well-prepared unification is a blessing for us and we should prepare many things for unification.”

After his lecture, the foundation ceremony of the Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do branch of Tongil Saenggak was held. Tongil Saenggak is a group that was established to gather people to do fund raising for unification, to prepare for unification, and to raise interest about unification. About 150 interested people including Yu Woo-ik, Synn Il-hi, and Kim Beom-il, the mayor of Daegu, participated in the ceremony.
