On April 10, Polish President Lech Kaczynski was killed in a plane crash in Russia. Because he showed special affection for Korea, Keimyung feels sorry for his death. Keimyung is preparing a memorial concert and a temporary memorial in the College of Music and Performing Arts to pay its respects.

Keimyung has solidified a special relationship with Poland for 20 years, engaging in exchange student and sisterhood relationship programs with Poland. In addition, President Synn has performed as Polish honorary consul.

In 1990, Keimyung Professor Lee Seung-sun became the first Korean student to study in Poland. Professor Lee said, “As the first Korean international student, I studied for 5 years in the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and at that time, both universities set up a sisterhood relationship.” Thanks to this sisterhood relationship, Aleksander Kwasniewski, a former president of Poland, visited Keimyung University during the Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup. Professor Lee explained, “Poland, which had been ruled by Germany and Russia, has a similar historical and cultural background to Korea, so I feel strong affection for Poland.”
