The Institute of Intelligent Vehicle and Transportation was established to train future global experts in intelligent automobiles for the first time in Korea.
Keimyung University had an opening ceremony for the Institute of Intelligent Vehicle and Transportation at 1:00 p.m. on March 21, and thereafter a tablet-unveiling ceremony at 1:20 p.m. with Lee Jin-woo, the president of KMU, Kim Bum-il, the mayor of Daegu City, Lee Myung-gyu, an Assemblyman, and Lee In-seon, the director of DGIST (Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology).
Daegu City was proclaimed the professional city of automobile parts and was also selected to construct a driving test center by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. Keimyung University is now expecting the Institute of Intelligent Vehicle and Transportation to become a worldwide training institute of high-quality personnel like the well-known Aachen University of Technology, Germany, Nogoya University, Japan, and Carnegie-Mellon University, U.S.A.
In March, the Institute of Intelligent Vehicle and Transportation finished recruiting new students and hired Dr. Wallentowitz, a professor in the College of Engineering, Aachen University of Technology, as the director of the institute. The institute invited academics from professional institutes such as DGIST and other experienced people as adjunct professors, and it is now holding lectures. Furthermore, it has also decided to promote active exchanges with other universities, for example, the Graduate School of Automotive Engineering in Kookmin University, Aachen University of Technology, Germany, Nogoya University, Japan, and the University of California, Berkeley, U.S.A.
