Dongdaegu Station (Subway Station)
Dongdaegu Station (Subway Station), located in Dong-gu, Daegu, serves as a major hub on Daegu Metro Line 1. It connects the Dongdaegu Train Station and the Integrated Transfer Center, solidifying its role as the center of Daegu’s transportation network.

Opened on November 26, 1997, with the launch of Line 1, Dongdaegu Station began operations on May 2, 1998. The station features a concourse, ticket booths, and gates on the first basement level. Exit 1 connects directly to Dongdaegu Train Station and Shinsegae Department Store, while Exit 2 leads to
Dongdaegu Terminal.
Designed for seamless transfers, the station allows passengers traveling on KTX, SRT, and other train services to switch to the subway conveniently. In 2022, the station recorded a monthly average of 900,000 passengers, with daily traffic exceeding 30,000. When compared to Daegu Station’s monthly average of 410,000 passengers, Dongdaegu Station’s prominence as a vital metro hub becomes evident.
With its efficient transfer system and accessibility, Dongdaegu Station continues to serve as an essential transit point for Daegu citizens and visitors, offering increasingly comfortable services for its growing user base.

Dongdaegu Station (Train Station) and Integrated Transfer Center
Dongdaegu Station (Train Station) is a key railway hub in Daegu, intersecting major lines such as the Gyeongbu, Donghae, and Daegu Lines. It accommodates various train services, including KTX, SRT, ITX-Saemaeul, and Mugunghwa.
Since its establishment as a general station in 1969, the station has evolved with the introduction of KTX in 2004 and the expansion of the Integrated Transfer Center. In 2023, Dongdaegu Station recorded over 60 million annual passengers, with more than 400 trains operating daily. It ranks second nationwide in usage after Seoul Station.
The Integrated Transfer Center supports smooth transitions between high-speed and intercity buses, subways, taxis, and airport limousines, attracting an average of 50,000 daily users. As a hub that blends transportation, culture, and commerce, Dongdaegu Station provides unparalleled convenience to locals and travelers alike.

Ayang Railroad Bridge
A short walk from Ayanggyo Station on Daegu Metro Line 1 leads to Ayang Railroad Bridge, a cultural space spanning the Geumho River. Originally constructed in May 1936, the bridge served the Daegu Line for 78 years before being decommissioned in February 2008 due to a route change. Recognizing its historical value, Dong-gu District refurbished the bridge in 2013, transforming it into a multi-purpose cultural space featuring walkways, viewing platforms, galleries, and cafés.
The “Ayang View Café,” located at the center of the bridge, offers breathtaking views of the Geumho River alongside coffee and desserts. Its glass observatory and railway-inspired design elements create a distinctive atmosphere, making it a popular spot for dates and relaxation.

Other Attractions
Adjacent to the Dongdaegu Integrated Transfer Center is Shinsegae Department Store, which hosts exhibitions, performances, a book café, and interactive programs. Additionally, the Daegu Aquarium, featuring 2,000 tons of tanks housing over 200 marine species, is a highly accessible and popular destination due to its proximity to Dongdaegu Station.
