Supporting Startups to Revive the Local Economy

KMU has been appointed one of the leading startup universities by the Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA). Keimyung Startup Support Center (KESOC) supports students who want to start their own company by providing prototype invention funds and mentoring.

Oh Min-teak (25, Industrial and Management Engineering) was awarded the grand prize for a bicycle headlight including a black-box function at the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Student Start-Up Contest held on July 12. After that, with the help of the university, he set up his own company, Libro. Noh Hyeon-tae (27, Industrial Design graduate) invented a spine correcting backpack. KESOC is helping him to participate in international fairs to export to the global market.

More than 15% of undergraduate students in KMU take start-up lectures in their school life, and excellent students in each lecture are given start-up scholarships. The school gives a 7m2 start-up space to every start-up club and has offered the necessary funds to make test products and register for intellectual property rights.
