‘Healing Story’ that the Siji Geriatrics Hospital and KMU E2 volunteer group serve is getting popular. ‘Healing Story’ is a volunteer work program preformed by E2 volunteer group that serves dementia and stroke patients. Volunteers for this program are selected from contestants in the KMU K-Circle Volunteer Contest.

The Siji Geriatrics Hospital organized a school-work link program to help the elderly’s emotional stability and health. Every Thursday since July 12, the E2 volunteer group has been providing services to patients, such as foot massage, cucumber face massage, making fans, cooking classes, etc. The volunteers will organize a program to help the elderly’s emotional comfort and promote physical development, and then will perform the volunteer work during summer vacation.

Bae Young-jin, a social worker at the Siji Geriatrics Hospital, said, “Having a program connecting patients to a university-based student volunteer group is a good opportunity for patients to get emotional, physical stability and for students to experience sharing, consideration and accomplishment.”
