On May 26, KMU club students who belong to the association of 52 clubs did volunteer work and held culture performances for local residents in Dalseo-gu. This festival is operated by whole clubs of KMU and is supported by Dalseo-gu office. This festival had many events like campaign for publicizing ‘making clean streets’, face painting, balloon art, nail art, sampling tea and sharing cultural experiences etc.
At the beginning of the festival, KMU students joined in the campaign ‘making clean streets’ by cleaning the streets in Dalseo-gu Shindang-dong and Igok-dong. Also, students of mural painting club, ‘Drawing Love’ installed the booth to do some events for local residents like face painting, nail art, balloon art etc in Waryoung park. Students of tea club, ‘Chamyungsangdungji’ introduced traditional tea culture to local residents by sampling a tea in Waryoung park.
They started the event, sharing cultural experiences in Waryoung park at 5 : 30 p.m. Many various cultural art performances are prepared by KMU taekwondo demonstration group, band club, dance club, guitar club, belly dance club. These performances brightened up the atmosphere to the festival. These performances made an opportunity of harmony with local residents.
Kim Beom-hee, a chief of the association of whole clubs said “We tried to introduce university culture to residents with KMU students, do cultural activities with residents and give vigor to residents. And we will push many events to communicate and keep in step with local residents continuously. Lee Byeong-ro, a dean of KMU students said “This festival represented much to students because they can serve for local residents who stayed close but had less opportunities to communicate and share with them. And I want to say thank you to students for preparing various volunteer works and performances for residents. I will help them actively to communicate with local society through good opportunities.”
