Wiseman Research Initiatives, one of the world’s leading cancer research institutes, has opened in Daegu. Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital has been chosen to be the first joint research partner of the institute. Dr. Charles Wiseman, the director of the institute in America and the chief of the cancer center in St. Vincent Cancer Treatment Center, said, “There are many competent cancer specialists in Dongsan Hospital. I expect that we will dominate the world cancer medication market with the excellent medical infrastructure of Daegu and our technical skills.”

Dr. Wiseman has developed new cancer treatments including a new cell line cancer vaccine using genetic engineering. This is the first new drug cancer vaccine approved for clinical trials by the American FDA.

The Korean Wiseman Institute has the patent and intellectual property rights and technology from Wiseman Research Initiatives in America. It will conduct clinical trials for developing new cancer drugs. Dongsan Hospital will construct a cooperative system for the treatment of cancer patients with St. Vincent Cancer Treatment Center, and it is expected to contribute to medical tourism by attracting American cancer patients to Korea.
